The Atomic Age Symposium will be held this Saturday to discuss nuclear weapons and energy, featuring new documentaries by two women filmmakers, one from the U.S. and one from Japan. They will be joined by a panel of experts for discussion after each screening, with a roundtable to conclude the day. Find out more about the day's programs.
T-shirts will also be sold to promote the conference in Bartlett for $10 each. All proceeds will go towards Japan Relief & Rebuild.
Come to our very 1st Annual Spring Matsuri! We will recreate the festive feeling of Japanese Matsuri with various performances, including music, dance and a comedy show!
Dinner catered by SHINJU SUSHI will be served from 5:30-6:45pm, (Sushi! + other authentic dishes) and the show will start from 7:00 until 8:30pm. (We will have vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options as well.)

We now have a translated letter from the president of Iwate University expressing his gratitude for the support here at the University of Chicago. You can download a pdf of the letter here.
Just now, we received photo footage of our Iwate University students volunteering to clean up a local elementary school. While we cannot join them in Japan, we can continue to support them here -- some students have lost the means to continue their education, and our funds will help their scholarship. JAPAN R&R will be showing a slideshow during talks, collecting donations, and folding paper cranes at TEDxUChicago in Mandel Hall on Sunday. Find out more about the event!
The Japanese Student Association is a Recognized Student Organization (RSO) at the University of Chicago, serving all students interested in Japan and Japanese culture. Japanese international students, Japanese-American students, and any students with a connection or interest in Japan are welcome to join. We hope to raise awareness of and appreciation for Japanese culture, language, and current issues among the student body as well as the local community through a variety of activities and events.
